Get to Know Queen Anne Lutheran Church

Queen Anne Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, located in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood. We are a community of faith committed to the mission of proclaiming
God’s love in Christ for every person.”

We welcome people of all cultures, races, sexual orientations, and gender identities. While many members live nearby, others come from across the greater metro area.

Our shared faith—rooted in baptism and the celebration of the Lord’s Table—is expressed through vibrant liturgy, lifelong learning, and acts of care. We aim to help people recognize God’s presence in the world and live their faith with purpose.

Who Are We?

REV. DR. DAN PETERSON was called to our congregation and began his ministry here in June 2016. Prior to his arrival at Queen Anne Lutheran, he was an ordained Lutheran pastor in a specialized call from our synod to a teaching ministry as a professor in the humanities at Seattle University. He is an accomplished theologian, having published books, articles, and blogs (including an award-winning book on Paul Tillich published by Lutheran University Press). He preaches and teaches theology with passion and humor, and has taught not only at universities, but has also presented nearly 500 adult forums in congregational settings. In addition, Pastor Dan has led seminars for seniors living at Horizon House, a retirement community in Seattle, and his classes were very popular with that community. He is thoroughly anchored in the Lutheran tradition, but also encourages spiritual questioning as a means to strengthen faith. Prior to attending seminary, Pastor Dan served as a Director of Youth and Family Ministry at a congregation in California for two years.

Office Hours: Pastor is available Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday each week, but is often offsite for visitation or meetings. Please contact him to make an appointment.

Our sexton is JOHN BRYANT. His job is to walk through and secure the building each night, and to help with setting up chairs and tables for events. John is a nearby neighbor who brought his previous beloved dog Guinness, a Bouvier des Flandres, to our church on several occasions for the Blessing of the Animals, and is currently raising Jetson, another Bouvier. John has had his own landscaping business for 12 years and was a swim coach for 12 years before that. Please greet him warmly if you happen upon him!
