More Than Music—It’s Ministry
Music at Queen Anne Lutheran
At Queen Anne Lutheran, we don’t approach music as a performance—it’s a way we proclaim God’s good news to one another. Whether singing, playing, or listening, we use music to support the worship life of our congregation, always centered on God’s grace through Word and Sacrament. Our choirs and ensembles welcome children, youth, and adults alike, and we joyfully invite all who wish to share their musical gifts in praise and community.
Join us for upcoming opportunities to fill your soul with joyful noise. From special worship services to concerts and recitals, there’s always something worth listening to at Queen Anne Lutheran.

An Invitation from Cantor Kyle
Whether you sing, play an instrument, ring handbells, or simply love music, there’s a place for you in the music ministry at Queen Anne Lutheran.
We welcome everyone—amateurs eager to grow, seasoned musicians, and those who can only join us for special services like Christmas or Easter. If you’re interested in making music, building community, and enriching worship, I’d love to connect.

QALC Choir
The QALC Choir (ages high school and up) rehearses weekly on Thursdays at 7 p.m. in the Music Room, typically from September to May (sometimes early June, depending on when Pentecost falls). This choir serves in worship weekly at the 10:30 service, meeting prior to the service at 10 a.m. to warm up. Repertoire ranges from historic music to modern pieces in a variety of styles. The QALC Choir includes a wide range of background and experience. Fellowship, learning, and laughs are part of every rehearsal. No audition is necessary!
Handbell Choir
Handbells are part of the weekly introit during the choir’s season (see above), with a few bells introducing these psalm verses that change weekly and are sung at the beginning of the service. At this time more extensive use of bells is on an ad hoc basis—it would be fantastic to grow into a bell choir that meets regularly!
Interested in rining on a regular basis? Let us know!
Instrumentalists
Youth and adults who play strings, woodwinds, brass, and other instruments are welcome! Please contact our Cantor, Kyle Haugen, if you are interested in playing. Opportunities include solo pieces, instruments with choral music, and accompanying congregational singing together with organ or piano.
Youth Opportunities
As part of the family of God, youth musicians are warmly encouraged to offer their talents. Cantor Kyle has experience working with youth throughout his career. He reaches out to QALC families to learn availability and then tailors vocal, instrumental, and/or handbell opportunities to match.
Pop-Up Choir
From time to time, a “pickup choir” of Sopranos/Altos or of Tenors/Basses will be formed with a minimal rehearsal commitment—typically during the summer months or for special occasions or holidays. This can be a fun and easy way to engage with music for worship!
Professionals
Professional and semi-professional musicians (instrumentalists, singers) join us for worship services from time to time and especially for major holidays.
Music News
The Queen Anne Lutheran Church congregation is blessed to have a world-class pipe organ to strengthen and enrich the church’s year commitment to excellence in worship and music.
A singing congregation is one of the strong hallmarks of Lutheran worship and QALC has invested in the future by providing a quality instrument to lead and support the congregational song.
